Oh Catherine of the isles greets every day her green skirt scraping the sands at the end of the cay Oh Catherine of the Isles, or so I've been told, lost her ship and her crew to the waters below and those waves they dragged her down and those waves they dragged her down Amphitrite, Amphitrite, don't let me drown Oh Catherine of the Isles was washed ashore inquisitive birds turned to her "How's your Spanish, Catherine?" "How's your Spanish, Catherine?" "Oh, it's OK but, honestly, it could be much better."

“There is no mistake this time, and we absolutely decline to credit the exhibitor, who is himself a Tyrolean and character vocalist and ventriloquist, when he tells us that it is all an illusion. We prefer to believe the other way. There, in a glass tank, with sticklebacks and a gudgeon for her companions, sits the lovely creature, very beautiful as to her head, with its lovely flowing hair, and very fishy as to her tail. “

Hey now, now Hey now, now Hey now, now Aren’t You over it. When you think about the ocean Do you remember how it felt to be real. Before you swam inside a glass tank
doing tricks, sloshing for your next meal Hey now, now Hey now, now Hey now, now Aren’t You over it. Do you look beyond the risers as the spray of water loudly reveals the aquatic world that calls you
to roam and play and hunt for your own meal.

When the road it feels so endless and the world it feels so senseless and you don’t know where you’re going and you’ve lost who you are and everything is so distant muted, pale, and dim Well don’t worry salt breeze in your hair the sea and stars are still there.

Oh how you stared alone on the shore nobody cared and nobody came And much too late for regrets or an elegant pirouette the bean sidhe wails heard overhead (Oh no) and you're all alone now.

Are your legs not long enough Are your legs not long enough Are your legs not long enough To reach the ground beneath your feet when you're crowned the queen of thieves. With your head now in the clouds and the stars appear to you to be growing nearer Is your heart not strong enough Is your heart not strong enough Is your heart not strong enough to leave the ground beneath your feet you've been crowned the queen of thieves .... "All creatures great and small All things wise and wonderful" "All creatures great and small All things wise and wonderful"

about

Here, raised from the depths, are 17 songs written for the now moribund Cryptographers: the post-Linus Pauling Quartet band made up of Carol Sandin Cooley, Charlie Ebesrbaker, Stephen Finley, Larry Liska, and myself. Essentially, the Linus Pauling Quartet without Clinton Heider. At the loss of “our Peter Gabriel,” I went into a bit of a panic and began churning out songs and sketches with one, “Queen of Thieves,” being based on a jam (notably the lovely keyboard hook by Carol) that you can still hear on the band’s Bandcamp page - the aptly titled “Krautrock in D”. While five of these songs made it onto The Cryptographers album, many more did not. This small release is simply my way of setting these songs free and into the wild. Enjoy.
